Rheindahlen Garrison, midway between Dusseldorf and the Dutch border with West Germany, is the joint headquarters of the British Forces in Germany. Built in 1954 and first occupied in 1956, the camp houses over 9,000 service men and women and their families, providing every conceivable facility for work and recreation, from supermarkets to schools, from churches to cricket pitches.
