Private Passions

on BBC Radio 3

Michael Berkeley's guest is businessman Leonard Ingrams, who founded Garsington Opera in the grounds of his country house in Oxfordshire. His choice of music begins with two haunting English folk songs, ends with the closing scene of Richard Strauss's little-known opera Daphne, and also includes music by Victoria, Purcell, Bach, Haydn, Vaughan Williams and Hindemith.
