Gil Evans

This Canadian composer and arranger celebrated his 75th birthday on 13 May
1987 by giving a concert at the Hammersmith Odeon with his New York Orchestra. Max Harrison introduces the recording of that concert, which also featured other musicians who had worked with Evans, including Palle Mikkelborg and Lew Soloff (trumpets), Steve Lacy and John Surman (saxophones), Dave Bargeron (trombone) and Airto Moreira (percussion).
