A two-part dramatisation of the bitter ten-year struggle for power between Robert F. Kennedy and Jimmy Hoffa , leader of the Teamsters, America's most powerful labour union
1: in 1956 the young and ambitious Bobby Kennedy , counsel to Senator John McClellan 's Investigations Committee, explores the possibilities of a probe into mob infiltration of the labour unions. His action could alienate his brother John from the labour vote in the upcoming vice-presidential campaign. But Bobby pursues his investigations and before long Teamsters union president Dave Beck is indicted for corruption. Into his place rises James Hoffa , whose battle with Kennedy will rage over the next decade and alter the course of US history.
