Jazz on 3

on BBC Radio 3

Graham Collier
British Jazz veteran Graham Collier and his Big Band in a concert from last year's London Jazz Festival, featuring 40 Years On, a suite looking back at various compositions from Collier's four decades as composer and band leader. This suite's subtitle, Between a Donkey and a Rolls-Royce, refers to the chosen modes of transport of his two immediate neighbours at his home in Ronda, Andalucia. And Jez Nelson presents an exclusive interview with Collier. Well-respected as an educator, composer and bandleader, Collier's work has had an impact upon the teaching of jazz in academies and institutes around the world.
