Jim Loftus decides to take a hand in public affairs when the quiet lane outside his doorway becomes a major highway. Feeling that the Council are not doing enough, he sets up an action committee to get quick results. Jim becomes a Furness celebrity, and enjoys the publicity and the feeling of importance it gives him - but is he prepared to pay the price, which in this case could even mean the loss of his job and the break-up of his family?
