on Third Programme

View in Radio Times

Talk by J. M. Hartog
This summer a group of Oxford students, none of whom had ever before been to the Arctic, made an expedition to North-East Land to examine a glacier, formed in 1937, which now covers two hundred square miles of sea. In this talk the leader of the expedition describes the scientific observations and survey work of the party, and their experiences under blizzard conditions and on man-hauling sledge journeys.
