(Continued in next column)
Produced by Owen Reed
John Ridd, young master of Plover's Barrows Farm, whose father has been murdered by the Doones of Bagworthy Forest, has met and fallen in love with Lorna Doone and heard from her of her threatened marriage to Carver Doone, most dreaded of her outlawed clan. His plans to rescue her have been thwarted by the arrival of Jeremy Stickles, agent of King Charles II, summoning him to give information against the Doones before Judge Jeffreys in London. Unable to tell Lorna of his departure, he returns after tormenting delays to find that for two months she has been signalling for help.
