With the war in the Pacific at an end ' 'Guns' Donovan and his friends 'Boats' Gilhooley and Doc Dedham are leading idyllic lives in a South Sea island paradise. Donovan runs the local bar, Dedham the hospital and Gilhooley is general odd job man.
But their peace is shattered by the arrival of Dedham's daughter Amelia from Boston.
