Paul Gambaccini continues
Radio 2's occasional series of exclusive, invitation-only gigs with a concert featuring singer/ songwriter Paul Simon , recorded on 25 May at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London. Simon first struck a chord with the public in late 1965, when he and partner Art Garfunkel had a hit with The
Sounds of Silence, a single that ushered in a new, sensitive and much copied variation on folk-pop. The duo split in 1970 and Simon went on to forge a solo career defined by the LPs There Goes Rhymin'Simon (1973) and Grammy winners Still Crazy after All These Years (1975) and Graceland (1986). Tonight Simon previews his latest album, Surprise - his first release since 2000.
