DAINES DOROTHY CHALMERS (violin)

DOROTHY CHALMERS was sent to London at the age of thirteen to enter the R.A.M. as an associated Board Scholar and remained there for seven years, having held three scholarships with extensions. She has been connected with broadcasting since its beginning, being one of those who assisted in the experiments from Marconi House. She plays on a Preosanda violin, made at Cremona in 1826, and in the air raids during the War her chief concern was for this instrument. She is now resident in Aberdeen, her native town, where she combines teaching and playing.
