Visions: the Music of Olivier Messiaen

Cripplegate, London, a recital of chamber music by Olivier Messiaen. Susan Bullock sings Harawi, songs of love and death based on the tragic legend of Tristan and Isolde. The Quartet for the End of Time was composed while Messiaen was a prisoner of war at Gorlitz in Silesia and written in conditions of extreme austerity for the instruments and musicians available to him.
