At the ball at Inveraray Castle, Count Victor learns the true identity of the mysterious 'Drimdarroch'. He and Sim MacTaggart fight a duel. Sim is badly wounded and Count Victor is locked up in the cellar at Inveraray Castle. But he manages to escape.
