Mr. ARTHUR BRYANT (Educational Adviser, Bonar
Law College, Ashridge) : ' The Adventurer '
In his broadcast tonight, JMr. Arthur Bryant will divide the English adventurers into two groups ; those who rove by circumstance and those who rove by choice. In this first group he places the long stream of younger sons who have crossed the seas (often like Clive, reluctantly), and won wealth for England and themselves. In the second and smallor group ho places explorers, fighters, and travellers-men in whom roving is life itself, from Drake in the sixteenth century to Colonel Lawrence in our own. He attributes the roving blood in their veins probably to our Norse ancestors.
