The Magical Indian Roadshow
Travelling entertainers from all over India are in London this summer for the ADITI 'Celebration of Life' exhibition at the Barbican Centre. This film shows some of those players living and working in their own country.
When it was first shown the Daily Mail said: '... a quite extra- ordinary film. Ostensibly about the travelling clowns, snake-charmers, acrobats, dancers, singers and puppeteers who earn their crust by touring villages, the film goes deeper to show how India's new urban culture is ousting these traditional players. The climax comes when the " beggars " choose to fight back.'
