Roger is mentally handicapped. Not greatly, but enough to make him noticeably 'different' which is worrying for his parents, but not a real problem. Until, that is, he falls in love. In many States of America it is against the law for retarded people to marry and the true story of how Roger and Virginia fought for their right to marry, makes a moving, often funny, and inspiring film.
