The Kidnappers

on BBC Radio 4 FM

A series of four dramatisations of 20th-century kidnappings narrated by René Cutforth 4: Death in the Skies
In December 1973 two Arab guerillas in a dramatic attack slaughtered more than 30 people at Rome airport. At gun-point they commandeered a Lufthansa Boeing 737 and, with six Italian policemen as hostages, flew off to Athens. Here they shot one of their prisoners and threatened to kill all the crew unless their demands were met. The lives of the crew and hostages hung in the balance as they forced the pilot to take off once more for an unknown destination. With SEAN ARNOLD, JACK CARR,
DAVID ERICSSON, NIGEL LAMBERT, PETER PACEY, DAVID SINCLAIR and BETTY HUNTLEY-WRIGHT Written and produced by ALAN BURGESS
