The Tough Guys: Richard Widmark: Night and the City

on BBC One London

Also starring Gene Tierney
with Googie Withers, Francis L. Sullivan, Herbert Lom, James Hayter

Small-time spiv Harry Fabian challenges London's leading wrestling promoter but the price of success proves exorbitant.

International director Jules Dassin who filmed Naked City entirely on location in New York switched to London for the background to this violent story about the wrestling game - providing Richard Widmark with another powerful role as the mean-mouthed but ambitious crook.
