A bank in Chinatown is held up and robbed by masked men who manage to get away after a brief gunfight with Cagney and Lacey.
The two women detectives follow up a lead but the case is complicated by Cagney's father, a retired policeman, who is convinced that he can capture the gang singlehanded.
