The Inquisitor: 2: The Crucifix

on BBC Radio 4 FM

by Hugh Walpole adapted in five parts by Antony Kearey
with Cllve Swift , Amanda Murray, Nigel Davenport, Nigel Lambert and Elspeth Charlton

Michael Furze has returned from his travels and come to lodge with his brother Stephen, the hated moneylender of Polchester. He has pawned a valuable 17th-century Spanish crucifix, but the money is soon gone and he finds himself completely in his brother's power. Meanwhile there is a growing discontent in Polchester, where the tradesmen and the unemployed of Seatown feel they are less well represented than the cathedral folk in the planning of the pageant.
