The Story of the BBC Drama Repertory Company
When the BBC Sound Drama Department was evacuated to Evesham in 1939. it took a band of highly-trained radio actors: the newly-formed 'Rep'. During the war-time blackout, radio drama had a grip on the public imagination, and members of the 'Rep' such as Carleton Hobbs, Norman Shelley, Gladys Young and Griselda Hervey became household names. Ian Rodger traces the company's history with contributions from the actors, directors and writers involved with it.
