Hear and Now

on BBC Radio 3

In the final programme of music from this year's Huddersfield Festival, Verity Sharp presents From the Grammar of Dreams: described as "a visualised concert of music", it is the product of composer Kaija Saariaho 's collaboration with the artist Raija Maika and juxtaposes six of Saariaho's existing chamber pieces with new music composed especially forthis concert. It is performed by Eva Tigerstedt, Ulrike von Meier, Anna Kreeta Turunen, Anu Komsi and Piia Komsi. Plus a chance to hear Solve et Coagula by Rolf Wallin and Alejandro Vinao's Cuaderno del Ritmo, which fuses a traditional Pakistani melody with rhythms taken from Debussy's Fetes. Christian Eggen conducts Cikada Ensemble.
