Britain's Heroin Fix. We're losing the opium war, both on our streets and in Afghanistan, where 90 per cent of illegal UK heroin is produced. Three years ago, after the fall of the Taliban regime, the British Government took charge of driving out the drug barons - but since then, the Afghan opium poppy harvest has reached record levels.
