Sports Talk: Mr. Joe Davis: Billiards as a Profession

on National Programme Daventry

View in Radio Times

Joe Davis won the Professional Snooker Championship of 1932, beating Clark McConachy; and, during the match, made the record snooker break of 109, potting thirty-two consecutive balls. He won the Championship again this year, beating Willie Smith. He is at present playing exhibition games round London. In his talk tonight, Joe Davis will touch on billiards as a profession, on the various conditions governing the game, and how he came into it. As he also won the Professional Billiards Championship last year, enthusiasts can look forward to a fascinating quarter of an hour with the Gordon Richards of the cue.
