Appeal on behalf of the London Hospital, Whitechapel, by the Viscount Knutsford
There is little need by now to say anything about Lord Knutsford, the 'King of Beggars,' who has raised more money for charity than any other man alive; and as for the London Hospital (of which he has been Chairman since 1890), everybody knows that it is the largest in England, and a centre of pioneer work and research. What is not so well known is that its endowments are in no way proportionate to its work, and that for no less than four-fifths of its income it depends entirely on the generosity of the public.
