'TUESDAY SERENADE'

on BBC Home Service Basic

View in Radio Times

Stanford Robinson conducts the BBC Theatre Orchestra, with Marjorie Thomas (contralto), Arthur Sandford (solo piano), and the BBC Theatre Chorus
The operetta selection is taken from H. Fraser-Simson 's A Southern Maid -worthy successor to the record-breaking Maid of the Mountains at Daly's Theatre. Once again, it can be recalled, the Maid was sweet-voiced Jose Collins and once again Harold Fraser-Simson provided a colourful score to match her exotic personality. Tonight Marjorie Thomas sings the Maid s songs, and listeners also hear her in Grieg's ' A Swan' and that favourite old ballad, ' Gleaners Slumber Song.'
