A sequence of comic-opera overtures played by Charles Brill and his Orchestra
Charles Brill , whose orchestra has lately become so popular over the air, is of Hungarian extraction. He studied the violin at Budapest and conducting at Baste under Weingartner. For a while Brill conducted light opera t Basle. and on his return to England toured as conductor with the Royal Carl Rosa Opera Company. In 1934-5 he went to Russia and conducted a number of radio concerts.
About three years ago Brill formed his own orchestra, consisting of some of the finest players in London ; for instance, Max Salpeter (leader), George Roth (cello), John Francis (flute), Alec Whittaker (oboe).
