Mini Monet
Reflections on the life and work of Claude Monet to coincide with the Royal Academy's new Monet exhibition. 1: Monet in Giverny. Monet's gardens in Giverny - and his water garden in particular - provided the central motifs of his later paintings. Although it was built in the face of fierce objections from neighbours, today the garden receives thousands of visitors. Anna Pavord , gardening correspondent for The Independent, and art historian Paul Hayes Tucker reflect on the garden and on the paintings it inspired. With excerpts from Monet's letters read by Paul Scofield. Producer Abigail Appleton
