I In June, over soloists and ensembles took part in Radio 3's new recital series for young performers, produced in association with The Sunday Times. Of these, 18 have been chosen to perform in concerts at the National
Portrait Gallery this autumn. The first programme in the series features
Steven Osborne (piano) who plays music by Debussy, Liszt and Messiaen; the London Cantilena
Quintet, who perform wind quintets by Danzi and Samuel Barber ; and the violin and piano duo Priya Mitchell and Rebecca Holt who play Franck's violin Sonata.
Introduced by Joanna MacGregor , who also looks at some of the issues facing young musicians at the start of their careers. Producer Nigel Wilkinson
