Inquest on Bouvet by Georges Simenon translated by EUGENE MACCOWN adapted as a play for radio by HOWARD AGG
Produced by DAVID H. GODFREY
For many, the names of Georges Simenon and his famous detective character Maigret have become almost synonymous. But as listeners to Howard Agg 's adaptation of Inquest on Bouvet will discover, this is one of Simenon's non-Maigret novels.
Monsieur Bouvet died quietly one summer morning as he stood at a second-hand bookseller's stall beside the Seine. From the moment that his body was taken to the house of Madame Jeanne where he stayed, everyone seemed to know and claim a share in her old friend. Death had brought a fame to Monsieur Bouvet that life had apparently denied him.
