The Wire

on BBC Radio 3

A Scattering of Lights. By Phelim Rowland. In 1977 Nasa launched Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 into interstellar space. Each probe carried a golden disc, on which the experience of Earth was encapsulated in the form of music and greetings from many different cultures. Born around the same time on Earth were two women who have been on the move constantly from childhood. So far, nobody has wished them either peace or prosperity.
