The Beaminster and District Gardens and Allotments Society Goes to Chelsea
Reporter John Pitman
The members of a gardening club in Dorset are given the chance to design a garden for Chelsea, the greatest flower show on earth. The garden was entirely planned and stocked by the amateurs, though they were advised by professionals like Percy Thrower , Geoffrey Smith and Bill Sowerbutts.
In the end the little local society compete with professional nursery-men from all over the world and try to win a coveted gold medal to take back to Beaminster,
A small masterpiece.
