Brian Redhead delivers the inaugural Priestland Memorial Lecture in honour of Gerald Priestland , who died two years ago aged 64. An acclaimed foreign correspondent for many years, Priestland attracted his largest audiences as the BBC's Religious Affairs Correspondent. In his general reporting, his Yours Faithfully talks and series like Priestland's Progress, he articulated the questions and doubts of churched and unchurched alike and won their hearts in the process.
