Children and Mathematics: 2: Common Sense and New Maths

on BBC One London

Sets are perhaps the most controversial topic being introduced into Primary School. Sets themselves are not new but have always been at the heart of mathematics. This programme shows that sets are also at the heart of children's thought-and from their idea of a set children can most easily take their first steps in both arithmetic and logic.
