Tatum Julian Joseph introduces recordings by the pianist who stunned the music world of the thirties with his virtuosic technique and harmonic sophistication. Music includes Tatum's first solo outing in 1933, his trio sessions with guitarist Tiny Grimes and bassist Slam Stewart , and solo and small group classics recorded for Norman Granz 's Pablo label in the early fifties.
