The Swanherd of Abbotsbury

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Fred Lexster must have one of the most unusual jobs in the country - he's a swanherd. Like his ancestors before him, it is his duty to care for the flock of up to 1,500 swans who come to nest each year on Chesil Beach in Dorset. Today he shows DILYS BREESE round the swannery and tells her about the family life of the swans.
