It is the eve of Robin's departure to his first boarding school and Jennifer is keen to make his last night at home a rather special one. Children, however, are notoriously lacking in a sense of occasion, and it is not only Trudi and Amanda who are responsible for spoiling the mood, but the guest of honour too, while even the gay masks of Jennifer and Henry eventually slip somewhat.
This is the first episode out of twenty in which only the five members of the Corner family appear. And rightly so, perhaps, since it is, as the title suggests, very much a family affair.
