2/4. Lulu continues a profile of distinctive soul tenor and songwriter William "Smokey" Robinson, who until 1972 led Motown quartet the Miracles, with hits such as Shop Around (Motown's first million seller), You've Really Got a Hold on Me, The Tracks of My Tears, I Second That Emotion and The Tears of a Clown. This chapter looks at Robinson's songwriting, first with Motown founder/producer Berry Gordy, and then with fellow Miracles Pete Moore and Marv Tarplin. The programme features an interview with Robinson, who discusses his influences, and input from ex-wife Claudette Robinson, Berry Gordy, songwriter Lamont Dozier and singer Angie Stone.
