Composer of the Week: Rodrigo

on BBC Radio 3

Donald Macleod investigates Rodrigo's deep relationship with his wife and soul-mate Victoria Kamhi. who gave up a promising career as a pianist to become the composer's staunchest supporter and lifetime companion. Music includes Rodrigo's violin concerto, which reflects the games and laughter of their daughter Cecilia, and his only operatic work, the zarzuela EI Hijo Fingido, which might never have come into being if it hadn 't been for Kamhi's intervention.
