In a former TB sanatorium in the heart of Sussex, a group of families have effectively opted out of life in the 20th century. The Bruderhofs - a 250-strong Christian community originating from Germany in the 1920s - who 'try to live by the Sermon on the Mount', have given up the concept of personal property and any form of career structure.
Rosemary Hartill visits the Bruderhofs and reflects on their lifestyle.
