Hetty Wainthropp Investigates 9.30pm BBC1
The sixtysomething detective and her young sidekick have become increasingly adept at unravelling mysteries and, at times, the drama has threatened to become a double act.
But with this fourth series, Hetty's husband Robert (Derek Benfield) is taking a more active role and not just in the agency. It is to him that Geoffrey turns for advice when Janet hints that she needs to find someone to share the flat. The result is some delightful, low-key comedy that keeps this entertaining series as fresh as ever.
This week, Hetty persuades Robert to go undercover when she investigates a suspicious death. But she has broken one of her own rules in taking on the case and Robert leaves her in no doubt about his feelings. Geoffrey, too, is in for a surprise.
