A Wing and a Prayer

on BBC One London

The idea of flight has held a powerful fascination from earliest times, spawning a wild variety of machines. Nowadays you can own your own aeroplane for less than the price of the family car - especially if you build it yourself. In America you can actually fly a family car; or perhaps you'd prefer to take off on a powered parachute. You only need 20 minutes instruction. In Britain, where once more than 20 firms built light aircraft, now just a determined handful survive, still building new and highly original aeroplanes - from microlights to military trainers.
