Opera on 3

on BBC Radio 3

From Morning to Midnight
David Sawer 's new opera receives its world premiere at English National Opera, directed by Richard Jones. Based on Georg Kaiser 's expressionist play, the opera charts a day in the life of a cashier who steals a huge sum of money from the bank where he works, and goes on a spree. But happiness is elusive and, as midnight approaches, his life hurtles towards disaster.
