The World Cycling Championships from Leicester

For the first time, the Professional and Amateur Cycling Championships of the World are being held in the United Kingdom, and competitors from 30 nations have assembled at the Saffron Lane Track, Leicester.

This afternoon the championships were opened by the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Edward Heath MP, and tonight's programme reports on the opening ceremony together with highlights of the first track events including the final of the one kilometre time trial.
