The report on the Tate Gallery published a few days ago covers the Gallery's activities during the past year; it also contains a brief account of the period 1938-1953, during which the practice of issuing annual reports was discontinued on the grounds of economy. With the present report this practice is to be resumed.
H. S. Goodhart-Rende!, former Slade
Professor of Fine Art in the University of Oxford, reflects on the report in the light of recent criticisms of the Gallery.
