A Musical Offering
In 1747 Bach entertained Frederick the Great by improvising a six-part fugue on a theme the King himself had written, a theme that became the basis of A Musical Offering, a collection of pieces demonstrating the full power of Bach's skill in writing canon and fugue. This work and others by Bach are here broadcast live from the Haberdashers' Hall in London. With Sarah Walker.
