Made during the most prolific period of Chaplin's career, 1914-1917, Charlie is seen as an escaped convict pursued by dozens of prison guards. The sequences when he is on the run are quite hilarious, and later Charlie steals an evening-dress suit and gate-crashes a society party where he creates general havoc.
