Heart of the Matter: God under the Microscope

on BBC One London

The rapid expansion of scientific knowledge has, for many, challenged the very foundations of religious belief. The centuries-old debate on the tension between science and religion is the focus of this special edition coming from Brno in the Czech Republic. A film by atheist and scientist Richard Dawkins, in which he challenges the traditional role of religion, is followed by a discussion, hosted by Joan Bakewell. Taking part are Richard Dawkins, Catholic priest and scientist Michael Heller, philosopher Baroness Warnock, theologian Wentzel van Huyssteen and historian David Starkey.
