1970, soldiers fired on students at Kent State University, Ohio, who were protesting against the continuing war in Vietnam. Four students were killed and nine injured. Nigel Wrench hears from the injured the academics who have made this moment their life's work, and Richard Nixon 's biographer Richard Reeves , who relates how the American President took a nocturnal walk around Washington DC trying to deal with what had happened.
