Five programmes which aim to help the families of disabled people, with TONY NORTHMORE 3: Growing Up
After being regarded as special' during childhood, handicapped teenagers and young adults are expected to live in the able-bodied world. The problems that arise are often made worse by over-protective parents and a shortage of counselling facilities with regard to sexual and emotional needs. This programme describes some of the counselling facilities which exist and also shows how some measure of social integration can be achieved through sport and leisure activities.
